"Very informative and gave some good advice on how to identify and support children who are having problems with their mental health from a "non-specialist" perspective"
learn to support young people - and adults ...

We offer a number of mental health related training courses and workshops suitable for anyone teaching, supporting, caring for or living with young people - parents and professionals  alike.

Let’s start with some facts! One in 10 young people experience a mental health issue at any one time, and 1 in 4 adults. For those aged 5-19 suicide is the second most common cause of death, and it is the leading cause of death in men under the age of 35.

Record levels of young people are struggling.  Academic pressure, social media, bullying, poverty, lack of availability of professional mental health support – all have been named as contributing to this epidemic of poor mental health in our young people.  As a result, increasingly those with little or no experience or training are finding themselves confronted by challenging issues and conversations, and not knowing how to help.  We know how that feels!

Our down-to-earth interactive workshop sessions are not intended to provide extensive clinical information, but rather seek to break down stigma and prejudice, increase understanding and awareness around mental illness in its wider context, and thereby help those working with and supporting young people to be better placed to spot the signs of mental distress, and feel more confident to offer timely and effective support to young people in need.

We can also offer training around adult mental health issues, suitable for anyone wanting to better understand and know how to support an adult experiencing mental distress - whether that be clients, staff, colleagues, friends or family members.

Training can be built around the needs of a partcular school, organisation or setting, and can vary from 1-hour to full day sessions.

Workshops currently available include:

  • mental health and young people

  • self harm and young people

  • eating disorders and body image

  • suicide awareness

  • adult mental health awareness

We also provide Youth Mental Health First Aid training | More info ...

Training and workshops can be delivered in your school, organisation or group, or at a venue to suit you.  If you would like to know more, please contact us so we can discuss your training needs and provide you with a quote.

As a social enterprise, our services are offered at a preferential rate to parents and carers, and when working directly with young people, to increase accessibility and allow as many people as possible to benefit.
